Ken Batie
KEN BATIE (1960 - 2007) President of Jazzy Side Entertainment / Hoticeonline.com In 1987, Ken and Nat Quick developed a cutting-edge music show on WCLK-FM radio called "Hot Ice in the Afternoon." The showed featured a mix of classic jazz funk, acid jazz, neo soul, classics, house, latin and other captivating sounds in a unique DJ mix. Ken took the program to the next level when he developed the "Hot Ice Box" an interview segment featuring the likes of artists such as: Quincy Jones, Najee, Roy Ayers, David Sanborn, Incognito and Chaka Kahn just to name a few.
Outside of his permanent gig at Jazz 91.9 FM WCLK, Ken was always busy at various venues around town booking top local and national talent. In 1990, he hooked up with partner in crime Ken Rye where they expanded their cutting-edge music programming format to morning drive, afternoon drive, Firday nights and weekends. "Groove Gumbo" became the latest program in their arcenal to truly challenge the boundaries of everyday radio.
In 2005, Ken & Ken expanded their media and event marketing expertise to hoticeonline.com. Featuring 8 of Atlanta's hottest DJs, live music performances, international calendars and on-line music downloads/sales, hoticeonline.com seeks to provide an outlet for music genres and artists that are grossly under-represented by both commercial and non-commercial radio formats. Neo-soul, lounge, house, latin, funk, classic R&B, jazz and a plethora of other soulful sounds are put into the mix under a genre that they simply defined as Universal Groove. In addition, Ken & Ken hosted a series of shows around the country that feature the very best in live performances with the hottest DJs that they could find.
